Hi! I’m Kathleen and I have always loved words (more about that here…). Catching grammatical issues comes naturally to me, but that’s not everyone’s thing. We all make mistakes, but in professional or academic writing those errors, though understandable, can potentially confuse your message or hurt your image. I will help you present the best version of your writing with timely, thorough proofreading so that your content accurately represents your message. I am passionate about language, so I chose to obtain my bachelor’s degree in English and acquire specialized training in proofreading through the Proofread Anywhere program in order to support other writers. Not only do I have a strong desire to help people communicate, but I also have those eagle eyes to catch the errors that we often cannot see in our own writing. You’ve done the hard part, now let me give your written work the fine-tuning it deserves to be the best it can be!
“Every artistic endeavor or creative act involves two phases – the generative phase during which the original vision is discovered and roughly expressed, and the paring and polishing phase during which the ideas are reworded and refined, and finally regarded critically to ensure that the expression aligns with the original vision.”
—Gabriele Lusser Rico
…More on being a word nerd (and why you need one)
Ever since I can remember, a simple task to look up a word in the dictionary would turn into an hours-long adventure discovering words and where they came from. Always an avid reader, I went on to become an English major, crossword puzzle enthusiast, and all-around word nerd (one of my favorite papers in college was about how texting is changing our language—David Crystal, you’re the greatest!). The English language, with all of its flaws and idiosyncrasies, is fascinating to me because it’s always evolving and growing: absorbing new words like mansplaining, truthiness, and hangry; new forms of words such as bingeable, unfollow, and texting; and new uses for existing ones like chill, tweet, cloud, and troll. Some rules in English, though, must be maintained for communication to be comprehensible. After all, English is the most widely used language on the planet! These rules, however, can be complicated and may often depend on the type of writing you do, be it academic, fiction, scientific, or legal, etc. It is necessary, then, to have a trained set of eyes—a proofreader—to apply those rules to your writing. Proofreading is the necessary final step to make your content represent exactly what you are communicating without any typos, grammatical errors, or misspellings that could detract from a clear understanding of the work. As I’ve always been drawn to solving these issues, I obtained the training to be a proofreader (more about my path here), and I am here to help writers polish and refine their writing to communicate their content clearly and successfully.
What People Are Saying:
As a new business owner, I want to make sure all of my content is perfect without any typos or errors. Unfortunately, I am notorious for them. I read right over spelling and grammatical errors until they’re blasted into the social media world, unfortunately. As a professional, I need to appear competent in all areas of my business.
When I started using KLVP Proofreading, it boosted my confidence, which in turn did the same for my business. I can’t believe I went so long without her!!

I found Kathleen of KLVP Proofreading to possess the needed skillset to overcome problems in my short story. She was prompt and succinct in returning the proofread copy of the story which highlighted errors of grammar, text, and punctuation that in my mind’s eye I did not recognize. She articulated suggestions regarding tense and dialogue that were not only grammatically correct but insightful to the message. While in my mind, as the writer, I knew the path I wished to take the reader along, her input and insight into my project made for a much smoother journey. I was impressed with her attention to detail as well as her ability to communicate the mechanics of writing flow, grammar, and spelling that I had missed. While all of these enhanced my story, I am perhaps most impressed with her professionalism. I am excited at the possibility of working with her in the future on other projects I have written.

Her professional suggestions improved the sentence flow of my writing, and I feel more confident that my website content accurately displays my brand. Her quick turnaround was a pleasant surprise and much appreciated. I cannot thank Kathleen enough for the work she did, and I highly recommend her as a proofreader!
